BookmarkCC privacy policy
Effective 2026-10-01.
In short
BookmarkCC is software that runs on your own devices. There is no BookmarkCC server. We collect nothing through the apps: no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, no advertising. Your bookmarks go only to your own Dropbox or Google Drive, and from there to your other devices.
What BookmarkCC handles
- Your bookmarks: titles, web addresses and folders.
- The names you give your devices (for example "Laptop Chrome").
- The sign-in tokens Dropbox or Google give BookmarkCC when you connect. They stay on your device.
- The email address and account id of the Dropbox or Google account you connect. BookmarkCC reads them from that service to show which account is connected and to recognise the same account when you reconnect. They stay on your device.
Where your data goes
BookmarkCC stores one file with your bookmarks in your own cloud storage — in the BookmarkCC app folder of your Dropbox, or in a "BookmarkCC" folder in your Google Drive — plus a few snapshot files next to it for undo. Your devices read and write that file directly. Nothing is ever sent to us or to anyone else.
Encryption
Encryption is optional. When you turn it on, the file is encrypted on your device with a key made from your passphrase before it is uploaded; nobody without the passphrase can read your bookmarks, including your cloud provider. An encrypted file still reveals its name, size and change times, and how many snapshots exist. Without encryption, anyone with access to your cloud account can read the file.
Google Drive
BookmarkCC asks Google only for the drive.file permission, which lets it see the files it creates — nothing else in your Drive. BookmarkCC's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Dropbox
BookmarkCC uses Dropbox's App Folder access: it can see only its own folder in your Dropbox.
Your control
- Disconnect in BookmarkCC removes the sign-in tokens from that device and asks Dropbox or Google to revoke BookmarkCC's access.
- You can revoke BookmarkCC's access at any time in your Google account (Security → Your connections to third-party apps & services) or in Dropbox (Settings → Connected apps).
- Your bookmarks file stays in your cloud storage until you delete it.
This website and the web app
This website and the BookmarkCC web app are served from bookmarkcc.devreactor.com. Like most web servers, it may keep standard access logs (IP address, time and page requested) for security and operation. We do not use them to identify or track you, and we do not combine them with anything else. When you sign in with Google in the web app, your browser loads Google's sign-in script from accounts.google.com, which is covered by Google's privacy policy.
Children
BookmarkCC is not directed to children and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
